Frequently asked questions
About the therapy
What is cold compression therapy?
It combines cold therapy with gentle compression. A small pump inflates a wrap that holds a cold gel pack snugly around the treated area. It is commonly used after orthopedic surgery and injuries to help manage pain and swelling.
How is it different from an ice pack?
Ice packs are messy, shift around and don't apply even pressure. Cold compression keeps the cold in place and adds adjustable compression, with timed sessions so you don't have to watch the clock.
Do I need ice?
No. The wrap uses a reusable gel pack that you chill in your freezer. Many patients keep a second gel pack or wrap in the freezer so one is always ready.
How long and how often should I use it?
Follow your provider's instructions. The pump has timed sessions with a 30-minute default, and compression can be set from light to firm. If you're unsure about your settings, ask your care team.
Is it right for me?
Your provider decides whether cold compression is appropriate. Per the manufacturer's manual, the device is intended for use by adults (age≥ 22 years); if you are under 22, do not use it unless your provider has specifically prescribed it for you. Do not use it if any of the manual's contraindications apply, such as a suspected, active or untreated blood clot (deep vein thrombosis), heart failure, an active infection, neuropathy, or significant circulation problems in the area. Stop and contact your provider if you notice numbness, increased pain, swelling or skin color changes. See the full warnings and precautions.
Using the system
Is it hard to set up?
No. Place the chilled gel pack in the wrap, strap the wrap on, connect the hose to the pump, choose your pressure and time, and press start. Step-by-step instructions come in the box, and our videos and how-to guides walk you through it. Still stuck? The manufacturer, ManaMed, can help by phone at (888) 508-0712.
Does it need to be plugged in?
The pump has a rechargeable battery, so you can use it anywhere in your home. It also works while charging.
Can I treat two areas at once?
Yes. The pump has two ports, so you can run two wraps at the same time. An extra wrap can be added to your order.
How do I clean the wrap?
Turn the pump off and unplug it, then wipe the pump and wrap with a soft, dry cloth. Keep the pump dry; never put it in water. Follow the care instructions included with your system.
Ordering, delivery and warranty
How much does it cost?
Create a free account on our Start Your Order page to see the price. It only takes your email. Ground shipping is included.
Do I need a prescription?
Yes. It comes directly from your doctor's office by fax — if your care team referred you, they may have already sent it. If not, download our prescription form on the Start Your Order page and ask your doctor's office to fax it to 804-767-2150. Your card is only charged when your prescription arrives. If we don't get it within 7 days, we cancel the order and release the hold, so you're never charged.
Can I rent it instead?
No. The Cold Compression Pro is sold as a complete system you own, with a warranty on the pump and wraps.
When should I order?
The same day you're seen. We charge your card and ship by ground only (no overnight) once your prescription arrives, so order at least a week before surgery. Late orders may arrive after surgery, and late arrival isn't grounds for a refund.
Does insurance cover it?
This is a simple self-pay program, so there are no insurance forms or approvals to wait on. You'll receive an itemized receipt you can submit to your HSA or FSA — eligibility depends on your plan. Have a workers' comp claim or get care through the VA? Please don't order here — equipment for those programs must be authorized first. See Workers' Comp or Veterans.
Can I return or exchange it?
No. All sales are final — no refunds or exchanges once you purchase, including if the wrap doesn't fit, so have your provider confirm the fit before you buy. Defective or malfunctioning equipment is covered by our warranty: pump 1 year, wraps 6 months from your purchase date. Email care@bonjourmedical.com before the warranty ends. See our Purchase Terms & Warranty.
Who do I contact for help?
Help with the device (setup, putting on the wrap, using the pump, troubleshooting): contact the manufacturer, ManaMed, at (888) 508-0712, support@manamed.com or ManaMed's online support.
Orders, shipping, billing and warranty claims: email us at care@bonjourmedical.com. We reply within one business day. We don't have a phone line for self-pay orders.

Is my information private?
Yes. Your prescription and medical details come straight from your doctor's office by fax — we never ask you to enter them online. Checkout only asks for your name, shipping address, email and payment. Please don't include medical details in order notes or regular email.
